The final club visit to a members pond this year occurred on 2nd
September 2007. The visit was to Paula and Andy’s pond.
This was first time they had opened for the club, however
they have opened for visiting clubs before so are not complete novices
to opening.
Paula and Andy’s pond is 2500 gals in size and oval in shape with
a shelf for plants around the edge. Andy explained that he had
dug the pond when he was not feeling well which was a feat in itself.
The pond contained a very nice
mixture of koi including Paula’s ‘birthday’
koi, a beautiful Goshki. Other fish included
a very distinguished Gin-Rin Kohaku
(from New Forest Koi). Many peoples personal favorite was
either the Doitsu Sanke or the Yamabuki Ogon both of which stood
out in the pond. Other koi included Showa of which one was a Kindai
Showa, a Chagoi, and a Kujaku some of which people may have
recognized from last years photo show. The pond was fully covered
having a wooden pagoda and surrounded by a planted raised
bank. More details are within our news letter from this visit. |
