and Margaret had the koi pond constructed in 2002 so it is still very
much in it's infancy as regards maturing. Construction is of block and
render, then fibreglass coating. Half the pond is housed within the
conservatory adjoining the house and half in the open, this design enables
them to enjoy their koi what ever the English weather decides to throw
at them.
The
koi swim in 9000 gallons of heated water and can dive to a depth of
6 feet to find 3 bottom drains over the floor length of 27 feet. These
drains feed a large filter system housed under ground in a custom built
room, the filter incorporates an "Answer'', Jap matting, kaldness kl
and Alfagrog and so far the water parameters are fine as the condition
of the koi underline.
The
resident population of koi are thriving, swimming amongst them are two
club "Grand champions", the club having held an annual photo show for
six years now, so two out of three can't be bad! Add all this to the
setting of the alpine rock bed and lawns and 300 ton rockery in this |
